Jeannette Faber is a high school English teacher with 18 years of experience in the classroom. She has an M.S. in Secondary Education from Dowling College, NY, an M.A.L.S. in English from Wesleyan University, CT, and a Ph.D. in English Education from Columbia University’s Teachers College. Her dissertation, which focused on the evolution of reading theories over the last century in American public schools, was published in 2011. Faber lives in New Haven and teaches in Fairfield county.
During her 20 years in education, Amy Tepper has served as teacher, developer, assistant principal, and director in settings as varied as virtual/blended, homeschool, and public schools. She was also highly involved in Florida high school reform. Currently, as a consultant, she is advising principals and teachers in 6 Connecticut districts about Common Core and teacher evaluation. Tepper has taught Language Arts and English and has a master’s in education. Florida has been home for 19 years to this Hamden native.
Her middle school, high school, and college teaching and her educational programs have merited Ann Cronin a National Center Excellence Award, a National Blue Ribbon Award, Connecticut Outstanding English Teacher of the Year, and others. A former head of UCONN’s Connecticut Writing Project, Cronin is currently a consultant to school districts and university schools of education on teaching English. She has an M.A. in English and a 6th year Degree is in Educational Leadership, from UCONN.
Michael McGarry has been teaching for 17 years, including in the Bridgeport public school system, a private school, and in the Fairfield public schools system. In 2013, he was elected to the Hamden Legislative Council, where he chairs the Education Committee. He is a longtime Hamden Soccer Association recreational soccer coach. McGarry has a B.A. in English from Mount Saint Mary College, NY, and an M.A. in English and a teaching certification from Southern Connecticut State University.
